Who we are+
Dr Blanks Vasectomies operates no-scalpel vasectomy clinics across Australia. This privacy policy explains how we handle personal and health information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and applicable state-based health records legislation.
What information we collect+
When you book or attend a procedure we collect: your name, date of birth, contact details, Medicare number, relevant medical history, current medications, and clinical notes related to your procedure. When you browse the site we collect anonymised analytics data (pages visited, device, country) via privacy-respecting tools. We never collect more than what we need to deliver clinical care or improve the site.
How we use it+
We use your information to: confirm and schedule your appointment, deliver the clinical procedure safely, process your Medicare rebate, contact you with after-care reminders, share results with your nominated GP if you ask us to, comply with our legal obligations (medical record-keeping, public health reporting), and improve our service. We never sell personal information.
Who we share it with+
Pathology providers performing your 12-week semen test, Medicare for processing the rebate, your nominated GP only if you ask us to communicate with them, and contracted IT providers who help us run our booking system and clinical software (all bound by Australian privacy law). Beyond that, we only disclose information where required by law (e.g. court order, public health reporting obligations).
How long we keep it+
Medical records are retained for the minimum periods required by law, generally 7 years from the date of last contact for adults, longer for patients under 18. After that period, records are securely destroyed in line with state health-records legislation.
How we protect it+
Clinical records are stored in secure practice management software with role-based access, audit logs, and encryption at rest. Physical records are kept in locked filing under restricted-access. Staff complete privacy and security training. We run regular reviews of who has access to what.
How to access or correct your information+
You can request access to your personal or health information at any time. Email info@drblanks.com.au or call 1800 BLANKS, we’ll provide a copy within 30 days. If anything is inaccurate, let us know and we’ll correct it promptly.
